David came to Lincoln Co., KY abt 1782 from King William Co.. VA, whereall his children were probably born. David H. was on the tax list on 22 June 1787 at Lincoln Co., Virginia, inthe District of Commissioner John Bryant.3 David H. Floyd Sr. left a will on 12 September 1787 at Lincoln Co.,Kentucky, and it contained: gives one half of the plantation and house to his wife, Sarah, until herdeath or re-marries, the other half to his children Benjamin, George,John, David, Mary and Gracy Floyd and granddaughter Mary Singleton,daughter of his daughter, Sally Singleton. All the farm equipment andslaves to be divided among children. Witnesses were John Bryant, RobertSingleton and Nathan Lamme. Will was prooved on 16 December 1788 andBenjamin, George and John Floyd were appointed Executors.4

Floyd Sr. left a will on 12 September 1787 at Lincoln Co.,Kentucky, and it contained: gives one half of the plantation and house to his wife, Sarah, until herdeath or re-marries, the other half to his children Benjamin, George,John, David, Mary and Gracy Floyd and granddaughter Mary Singleton,daughter of his daughter, Sally Singleton. All the farm equipment andslaves to be divided among children. Witnesses were John Bryant, RobertSingleton and Nathan Lamme. Will was prooved on 16 December 1788 andBenjamin, George and John Floyd were appointed Executors.4

160. William Merriman RECTOR-[294],3,8,9,12 son of Lewis RECTOR -[46] and Elizabeth MARTIN -[295], was born on 8 Oct 1799 in Campbell County, Virginia and died on 21 Apr 1879 in Warren County, Kentucky at age 79.

General Notes: William lived in Campbell County, Virginia. He later moved AndersonCounty, Tennessee. He later moved to Warren County, Kentucky.

William was a blacksmith.

William purchased property in Anderson County, Tennessee next to Lewis in1824. Lewis witnessed the indenture.

On October 3, 1835, William bought from James Hagan and wife Cynthia, aswell as Alexander Johnson "across the creek" one hundred acres of landfor one hundred dollars, on the "north side of the Barren River below thesteep hollow, beginning at Isaac Grey's corner" to Stewart's MilitaryCorner on the river bank. (Warren County, Kentucky; Book 16, Page 5)

In 1839, William and seven other relatives sold property owned andoccupied by the Rectors to Lewis Rector, John Potter and John Duckett. (Book 24, p. 292 )

In 1850 William and his family were living in 2nd District, WarrenCounty, Kentucky.

In 1852, William and six other Rectors bought fifty-five acres on the"fork of Drake's Creek and Barren River, Lot #5 for two hundred fiftydollars. (Warren County, Kentucky; Book 24, Page 313)

Following his death 21 April 1879, the will of William M. Rector wasproduced, proven and recorded on 25 August 1879:

WILL OF WILLIAM M. RECTOR, WARREN COUNTY, KY

I W. M. Rector of Warren County State of Kentucky being of sound mind andmemory do hereby make publish and declare this to be my last will andtestament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at anytime made. First I order and direct my Executor as soon after my deceaseas practiable to pay off and discharge all the debts dues and liabilitiesthat may exist against me at the time of my decease. Second I give andbequeath to my Son Charles Eighteen acres of land on East side of a tractnow owned by him. Third I order and bequeath to my Daughters HarriettGott and Sarah A. Dirrett 53 acres of land being the same land purchasedby me of R. G. Potter. My daughters Sarah and Harriett heretoforementioned are to have the use of said 53 acres of land but should theybecome dissatisfied and leave said land, I order that it be equallydivided among my heirs. I furthermore desire that at the decease of mydaughters Sarah and Harriett the said 53 acres of land be equally dividedamong my heirs. I furthermore order and desire that should my son-in-lawJ. G. Dirrett live longer than his wife Sarah A. Dirrett heretoforementioned that said Dirrett is to share equally in the division with myheirs. The within heirs mentioned in this will are to take care of andsupport me during my life. However I am to have possession of thehomestead during my life.
